Yard Waste and Brush Removal in Janesville, WI
Updated
Short answer

The ban
"Beginning on January 3, 1993, no person may dispose of yard waste in a solid waste disposal facility" (Wis. Stat. s. 287.07). So brush and leaves go to compost sites, not the landfill.
Where yard waste goes, town by town
- Janesville: the Compost Site and Clean Fill Facility is free for grass, leaves and garden debris and $6 per cubic yard for brush and stumps. Open April to October, reduced in November, closed December to March (city page).
- Edgerton: curbside brush pickup the first Tuesday of the month from April to October, up to 6 feet long, 6 inches thick and 100 pounds. Burning yard waste is prohibited in the city.
- Evansville: curbside yard waste the first full work week of each month from April to October, plus the Water St drop site.
- Village of Clinton: the compost site at 100 Scot Drive, Saturdays and Wednesdays from mid-April.
- Footville: the village compost area takes branches, leaves and grass only, for residents.
- Orfordville: yard waste is not part of the village program.
When to hire it out
A storm cleanup or an overgrown lot produces more than a car trunk can carry, and the compost site is closed all winter. A crew loads it and takes it to compost. Brush is bulky but light, so it is priced by volume; see the pricing page.
